Ha ha, yeah, that is a funny picture. That no longer appears (since the track workouts are over for the year), but yeah, it would be funny to see a guy on the track wearing those!
Short shorts « Result #2 on Sept 25, 2009, 2:18pm »
Don't ya think the guy in our home webpage graphic image (Runners_Track_Workout.gif) next to workout information has shorts a bit too short? He's the one with the light yellow tank and the light blue shorts. Isn't he wearing ladies racing briefs? Not that there's anything wrong with that. LOL

Greetings! My name is Tanya and I had a couple of questions about the running club, but before I ask I think it would help if I give you some information about me.
A few years ago two of my friends ran the Chicago Marathon. I had figured that if they could run, so could I—I’d just be a bit slower…and so my running adventures began. I started running for 30 seconds (which seemed like forever) and walking for 4 ½ minutes. As time went on, I signed up for a couple of 5Ks and eventually ran a half marathon. In 2007, I joined the AIDS marathon training program and training for the Chicago Marathon. Well, that year, as you probably remember, the race was cancelled—I had made it a little more than half way when I was told to stop and the race was cancelled. So, after a winter of sitting on the coach and eating too many Christmas cookies, I signed up to participate in the AIDS marathon training program again this year. I also did a couple of smaller races and the Chicago Distance Classic half marathon along the way. My times had gotten slower, so my goal for the marathon was just to finish—and that I did even though I didn’t get to cross the finish line timing mat because they were dismantling it. (Don’t laugh—my watch said I finished in 8 hours and 3 minutes. )
Throughout my training and running in general, I have used run/walk intervals. Currently, I am running 2 minutes and walking 2 minutes until I finish whatever distance I am going. I finished my two latest 5Ks (the Trick or Treat Trot and the Hot Chocolate Race) in 43 and 40 minutes respectively.
Why am I typing all of this? Well, I was wondering if there was anyone in the group that uses run/walk intervals or if everyone in the group strictly runs. Are people in the group that run at my pace? Also, is there anything else that I should know after reading about my running adventures and the group? Does the group run throughout the winter and if so, where does the group run?
Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from someone soon! Tanya
